Tiger's Eye
In the ancient Middle East, this stone was called "Oculus Belus," which translates as the Eye of Belus, referring to Belus-Marduk, the god of fortune and the most powerful of all the gods of Babylon. The name Tiger's Eye only appeared later in Europe, due to the stone's resemblance to the feline's eye. Tiger's Eye is a mineral from the large Quartz family.
During the Roman Empire, this stone was used as a talisman by warriors and legionaries to protect themselves from injury during battle. In addition to providing them with great protection, Tiger's Eye was reputed to increase their strength and courage. Later, in the Middle Ages, Tiger's Eye was used to ward off spells and banish evil spirits and other harmful phenomena. All beliefs agree on its protective properties since, as its name suggests, it resembles the tiger's eye and protects against the evil eye.
